Why I’m smarter then Rush Limbaugh

Rush Limbaugh makes about 100x what I make (possibly, 1000x more). But I’m smarter then him (or maybe wiser would be a better word), and here’s an example of why.

While driving out to NJ I was listening to him today. I enjoy Rush – I think he’s entertaining, and I agree with him, more often then not.

But today, as he’s been doing recently he was raving away at Mike Huckabee, and more especially at John McCain. Neither of them are conservative enough for him.

For example he was going on about McCain and his suppport for comprehensive immigration reform, as opposed to Rush’s idea that we just load up buses and drive 12 million illegal immigrants across the Mexican border. (I’m exaggerating for effect.) Of course Rush is a bit more humane then Lou Dobbs of CNN, who I think would prefer to pack illegals in cattle cars and ship them across the border… (again I exaggerate, but only a little!)

Well, McCain is right – comprehensive approach is needed. There are other examples I could give to show where Limbaugh has gone overboard, but you get the point.

So I’m smarter then Limbaugh (Rush-haters might say I’m damning myself with faint praise).

Here’s a good column by Debra Saunders of the San Francisco Chronicle, about Limbaugh, which I agree with. Hit the link and read the whole thing; I’m just posting a small excerpt.

Old warrior, go home

Sure, Mac-bashers admit, he’s good on Iraq and the war on terrorism, but look at his apostasies. McCain co-authored a campaign-finance reform bill that enraged far-right (and far-left) advocacy groups. He co-authored global-warming legislation with Sen. Joe Lieberman, then a Democrat. McCain infuriated the GOP base last year when he championed an immigration bill that would have set up a path to citizenship for illegal immigrants. The bill tanked, and deservedly so, but not before McCain gratuitously insulted bill critics.

I have to think that what really sticks in the Limbaugh/Ingraham/Hewitt collective craw is the fact that McCain has been a darling of the media. And some Democrats and independents say they could vote for him.

John McCain Stokes Speculation Pro-Abortion Joe Lieberman Possible VP
Washington, DC (LifeNews.com) — John McCain is campaigning on pro-life issues in South Carolina but he’s not helping his cause by stoking the fires of speculation that he could pick pro-abortion Sen Joe Lieberman as his running mate if he wins the GOP nomination. Lieberman, who want with Al Gore in 2000, has a longstanding record promoting abortion. The possibility of Lieberman, McCain’s friend and ally on many political causes in the Senate, as a running mate has been one of speculation since Lieberman started campaigning for him in December. However, columnist Bob Novak cited comments from a McCain operative over the weekend who told him, “there is no possibility that Independent Democratic Sen. Joseph Lieberman would be McCain’s vice presidential running mate on the Republican ticket.” But, McCain himself raised the possibility, according to a Wall St. Journal report, during a Town Hall meeting on Wednesday night. “He’d be a great partner in any endeavor, including joining America together,” McCain responding to a question on Lieberman. “Let’s reach across the aisle, let’s work together for America. That’s what Joe Lieberman is all about.” Full story at LifeNews.com.
