Wow. Still don’t undersand why they call it an autologous stem cell transplant, when I’m only getting back my own stem cells, but they do. Here’s the posting I put up that night,Tom Faranda’s Folly: Transplant went well
And here’s a picture. With hindsight, I don’t exactly look my best. The guy on the left is a resident, doing the infusion (done in the hospital room), and a nurse practitioner is on the right. The whole thing only took about thirty minutes, from unfreezing the cells to injecting them. Of course then I had a big nap, since I’d been given a mild sedative. Brigid made some joke about how nice it was to be in the room for a couple of hours with me, but it being very quiet. Haha.
