I read and posted reviews of 17 books this year, and also posted the reviews (sometimes slightly edited) on Amazon’s website.
Here are the three best books, in the chronological order I reviewed them in:
Tom Faranda’s Folly: Latest read: The Only Three Questions that Count
By investment manager and Forbes columnist Ken Fisher. The best book I’ve read on investing in 20 years – or maybe ever. My review is actually the lead customer review for this book on the Amazon website.
Tom Faranda’s Folly: Latest Read: Jesus of Nazareth
The first of an expected two volumes by Pope Benedict XVI on his view that the Jesus of History is indeed the Jesus of Faith. The former Cardinal Ratzinger – one of the great theologians of the last fifty years.
Tom Faranda’s Folly: Latest Read: Mother Teresa – Come be My Light
I just posted this review yesterday, even though I finished to book three months ago. The interior, spiritual life of a 20th century Saint, in her own letters.
And here are three also-rans that were very good reads.
Tom Faranda’s Folly: Latest Read: Sea of Thunder
The greatest sea battle in history – the Battle of Leyte Gulf off the Philipines in WW II. The focus is on two Japanese Admirals, the American Admiral Halsey, and and an American destroyer skipper.
Tom Faranda’s Folly: Latest Read: Spontaneous Healing
By the somewhat controversial Dr. Andrew Weil. A non-whacky look at alternative healing therapies, nutritional supplements, and maintaining wellness. To quote one of my physicians at Sloan Kettering on the general subject of alternative therapies, "There are no scientific studies. On the other hand, 2,000 years of Traditional Chinese Medicine has to have something to it."
Tom Faranda’s Folly: Latest Read: No Shortcuts to the Top
An autobiography of Ed Viesturs, only the sixth person, and first American, to summit all 14 over 8,000 meter peaks in the Himalayas, without bottled oxygen.
And as a bonus if you’ve read this far, here’s a book that can help if you have back pain.
Tom Faranda’s Folly: Latest read: "The Multifidus Back Pain Solution…"
I’ve been using the simple exercises, and they have helped me!
