A report on a good priest

Fr. Robert Dunn has been the associate pastor at St. Augustine’s in Ossining (where Joe and Tim go to school) for eleven years. He’s been a wonderful priest, a fine homilist, and especially popular with the students and parents at the school. Several few years ago, Fr. was diagnosed with multiple sclerosis.

The illness is taking it’s toll and Fr. Dunn is leaving St. Augustine’s to take a position as chaplain at a nursing home (big change from a parish with a grammar school!) in the Bronx. He will be in residence there, while also receiving therapy. I think Fr. is only about 42.

This past Sunday there was a big reception at the school gym in the early afternoon.  A “thank you Father, and good-bye” reception. there was really quite a huge turnout. Father celebrated the Mass before the reception and it was mobbed – people planning the reception went out to get more food.

It was very emotional, with many of the speakers and presenters barely able to hold back tears.

Unfortunately I wasn’t able to get a very good picture of Father. The camera batteries went dead and the spares were back on the desk (How’s that for a rookie mistake?  You’d think I’d know better) so here’s the best Icould do –

Here is Father’s personal website with some pictures from the day –   Goodbye

Father, thanks for your efforts, you’ll be sorely missed!
