Tomorrow I will be heading to Sloan Kettering into Manhattan for a 9AM appointment with the hematologist, Dr. Virginia Klimek. Then I am scheduled for my six month CAT scan, in anticipation of my appointment next week with the lymphoma guru, Dr. Zelenetz.
I think there’s an excellent chance that Dr. Klimek will want to do a bone marrow biopsy, since the last one I had was over two months ago. Maybe not, but I think the odds favor her wanting to do one.
So I could have a "twofer", a morning bone marrow biopsy and an afternoon CAT scan.
I am going to head down to the CAT department right after my Klimek appointment and try to get in for the scan early. I don’t really want to hang around at Sloan all day if I can avoid it by getting everything done in the morning.
Brigid is going down with me, for the appointment with Dr. Klimek, but will drive home afterwards if I have to stay there all day. The boys have a half day of school tomorrow.
I am still having trouble with some low level (low level right now, that is) respiratory or sinus infections. This will be a big point of discussion with Klimek. She may end up speaking with Dr. Zeitlin, the ENT physician I have been seeing in Westchester. I think I could end up on some low dose of antibiotic, as a prophylactic measure.
The other big question is – what will my white count be? Last Friday WBC was 2.2 and abs. neut. 0.8. Haven’t had a shot of neulasta (the white blood cell booster) in over five weeks. If the numbers stay where they are (or get better – here’s hoping!) I don’t think I’ll be getting the shot.
It will all be revealed by lunchtime tomorrow – so we will see!
