And it’s Fordham Prep. I’d written about this issue here – and there’s also a good picture of Joe doing one of the things he finds cool …Tom Faranda’s Folly: On the Faranda domestic front
A friend of ours (Laurie Hurley) emailed me tonight asking what we were doing and here’s the gist of what I wrote back:
Fordham Prep.
For a couple of reasons. I would have been happy if he’d gone to Stepinac (biased; I went there) but the commute required taking a public bus to White Plains and transferring to another public bus in White Plains bus terminal and then to the H.S.. takes about 70 minutes +.
Fordham Prep is a train ride to 125th St in Manhattan and then switch trains to go out one stop to Fordham Rd. back in the Bronx (different train line). Train stop is next to the campus. Door to door just over an hour. But a lot easier to study/sleep on the train.
I think that while the Prep is probably a trendier school and may be viewed as one up on Stepinac, but I think (remember, biased) Stepinac has just as much to offer.
But it was the commute that decided it.
Stepinac would have cost $6,800 a year; the Prep is about $11,500. So a lot of money.
But worth it. We think (hope) the Prep will challenge him. Interestingly, boys who go there, love it! Who ever heard of guys loving high school?
Kennedy is a fine school and that’s where Joe wanted to go (more friends – and girls – going there) but the vote was 2-1!!
