As previously mentioned Tom Faranda’s Folly: Health update, I had a bone marrow biopsy done (two weeks ago today). I finally spoke with Dr. Zelenetz about the results yesterday (he’s a difficult guy to catch up with).
The results aren’t all in, but what is available is inconclusive. I’m a little bit low on platelet producing cells, but my platelet count is normal anyway. As far as the main issue of my low white blood cell counts, we’ll have to wait about another ten days before those results come in. I am due to see Dr. Z on November 22nd.
As mentioned previously, I may have another stem cell transplant if they determine that the problem is that the original graft didn’t "take". This is not a big deal – would be done as an out-patient. But whether I need it or not is still to be determined. Stay tuned.
