After last Thursday’s debacle of going for my appointment at Sloan Kettering and never seeing Dr. Zelenetz, Tom Faranda’s Folly: Health update – Dr’s appointment but unable to see the Doc I was finally able to speak with his nurse today. ("Nurse Nancy" – she was off Friday and Monday). Here’s the drill from Dr. Zelenetz:
I’m going to get a white blood cell booster shot tomorrow at the Sloan satellite office in Sleepy Hollow. Then on the 31st I will see Dr. Caron in Sleepy Hollow and begin my once a week for four weeks Rituxin treatment. This will be the end of my anti-lymphoma therapy. Then in three months I will see Dr. Zelenetz, complete with scans – presumably a CAT scan.
Dr. Z is not concerned about the low white blood count and feels no need for a bone marrow biopsy. Evidently this is fairly typical coming off my type of chemotherapy.
As I’ve mentioned in the past, Dr. Zelenetz is pretty conservative about these things, so if he’s not concerned about my white cell counts, I’m not concerned.
