My town of Croton-on-Hudson NY (pop. 7,000) has been having a street fair for close to 20 years (maybe longer). The usual stuff; a nice parade, and plenty of street vendors, local businesses, churches, philanthropic groups, etc, having exhibits and stalls on the street.
Our church, Holy Name of Mary is into the fair in a big way. Besides selling a ton of food, there’s kids games and face painting. And big exhibits by the Knights of Columbus (legally, not part of the parish, but closely associated…) and the HNM Respect Life Society (anti-poverty, anti-abortion, anti-war, anti-death penalty, VERY pro-people).
Brigid and I took 112 pictures today, so here’s a baker’s dozen of them:
Our pastor, Fr. Michael Keane, working the barbecue –
The K of C booth with Dan and Chris before the crowds arrive –
This is the front of the Church. The food set-up is out of the picture to the right and the kids stuff out of the picture to the left –
And some people shots –
Whose green head is that between Greg and Jim?
The clean-up crew – and you can’t clean up without a beer! The lady leaning over the table in jeans is Lori Vlad, who’s been chief organizer of Summerfest at HNM for the last two years.
Sean Flynn and his new pet win the picture of the day award –
