I posted a while ago about the horrible genocidal war going on in Darfur, Sudan. It is mentioned in the NRO article I linked to in the previous post.
My friend John Lally, who has been very involved in Save Darfur efforts, sent me an email which I reproduce below. Re: my Republican Congressional representative Sue Kelly: what a jerk. I never voted for her, I never will vote for her… a further reminder to me of the merits of my not belonging to a political party.
If you’re in Sue’s district, why not give her a call to express your displeasure.
In case you haven’t heard, the U.S. House of Representatives passed the amendment providing $50 million to immediately bolster the peacekeeping mission to stop genocide in Darfur, Sudan. The amendment passed by a narrow 213-208 vote after a furious call-in campaign organized by the Save Darfur Coalition. A key member of the House called to express his gratitude for people of faith, saying, "the tremendous grassroots advocacy (by people of faith) helped make possible this victory for the people of Darfur."
Sadly, Sue Kelly voted against the amendment. I suggest calling (202-225-5441) or emailing(http://suekelly.hous.gov/) her to let her know our dissatisfaction with that vote.
