It’s Saturday evening, and while the rest of the family is off to Church (to beat the big storm coming and which I can’t attend becuase of the crowd) I am plunking away on my journal and trying to catch up with the many emails I’ve been sent in the last three days.
First, I am feeling less fatigued. I’ve gone for fairly brisk 26 minute walks the last three days, and will start using the dumbbells tomorrow. (That assumes I can assemble the light exercise bench I picked up at Modell’s right before my hospital stay. It was labeled a "Woman’s Exercise Bench", reduced from $49 to $10. What a deal! Except Tim and I opened the box today and it has to be assembled. Bad news. I have trouble setting an alarm clock or telling which end of a monkey wrench to use. And, AND I had to explain to Tim how he and I could use a "Woman’s Exercise Bench".)
I am still far from my usual energy level. That is going to take weeks to get back to, and to get back to my pre-chemo fitness level will take even longer. Remember, I can’t even go back to the gym for another 5-6 weeks.
And my apetite is still weird, probably becuse my taste buds have been so compromised by the chemo. I seem to always have a vaguely metallic taste in my mouth.
But enough complaining. I am back in my house, nagging my kids and bugging Brigid! So really, on the important issues, things are back to normal.
