Day seven and more pictures

The attending physician and the nurse practitioner were both very optimistic this morning about how things are going. In fact they suggested I might be out in ten or 12 days rather than in two weeks. Hope they’re right.

The nurse practitioner, who has been talking to me, Lorraine, wont be here tomorrow for re-injection of my cells. But the last thing she said as she left was “I’ll remember you in my prayers”, which I appreciated very much.

Had more visitors this weekend. Yesterday the Novotny’s and the Cannon’s. Wine in cups is Beaujolais – I had to offer them something!

Then today, the Riner’s arrived. Here’s Mike and Karen, as well as a little view of the foot of the bed and the artwork on the wall, the room computer screen, etc.

The bottom picture is of Matt and Lauren, Mike and Karen’s two children, who also schlepped into the city today!

They all helped finish the beaujolais.

And my brother Phil also came by. He stayed around about two hours, and had the Maryland crab cakes for lunch. But no picture.

I mentioned it before, but it’s worth saying again – for institutional food, the food at Sloan Kettering is very good. This evening I ordered the “classic pub burger” for dinner, thinking I’d get a small hamburger. Instead “room service” brought up a huge cheeseburger with lettuce, tomato, a pickle and vast amounts of french fries. And really quite good. I am gaining weight.

    Hey Tom,
The food at Sloan is surprising good. The problem is when I was in there I thought my sickiness and naseua was like a hang over so I orderd the “classic” pub burger and it made me puke my guts out. I later found out that is wasn’t a hang over from booze but chemicals it took to knock me out for surgery. I took it easy with toast and soap. Good luck, you are in great handa over there.

How come the one couple is wearing the plastic gowns while the other two are not?
