Well, maybe walks, not so much hiking.
This was Friday, about 1.25 miles as we walked from the soccer parking lot at Croton Point up to the model airplane flight area. I never realized they actually was a paved landing strip there.

Brigid wears cool shoes and socks!

Sunday I went back to Croton Point, again parking in the soccer field lot. This time walked around the large capped hill, and down toward the water – but didn’t get there. Ran into these guys.
When I took this picture of the deer, I did not see her doe about 25 yards away.

Then I saw the doe and took these shots.

Then on the way back to
the car, going over the big hump at the highest point in the park I got this nice view – around 7PM.

And at the bottom, met this guy, a hare I think, not a rabbit. Correct me If I’m wrong.

Total walk was 2 and 3/4’s miles.
So – yesterday – Labor Day – Brigid and I went to the Brinton Brook Bird Sanctuary which is only about seven minutes away .Total walk about 1 and 3/4 miles. Really a pleasant place to walk the trails and rarely see many people – it’s lovely but not used much. Yesterday only one other woman.
When you get all the way in, there is a pond, and yesterday it looked really scuzzy – the scuzziest I’ve ever seen it. First picture from the trail on the north side of the pond and the second picture from the west end. Doesn’t really do justice to the scuzz.

Also at the west end of the pond is nice bench next to a really big, old maple tree.

Brigid took the next three pictures – funny coincidence as we are wearing the same colored tops. My t shirt is a hand-me-up from Tim, from a project he did in the 8th grade!

The gnarly maple –

Not sure what Brigid was thinking on this one.

Heading back to the car, can you spot the butterfly? Or the bumblebee?

Here’s the bee –

Last two pictures – can you spot the baby bird?

Here you go. Cute. But I don’t think this guy, who was having real trouble flying, had much chance of surviving. But Brigid thinks the Mom would show up to save her baby. Hope so.

Lovely weekend!
