Saint of the Day: Native American Kateri Tekawitha

One of Farandaville favorites – we’ve been to Auriesville, NY where part of the shrine there is dedicated to her – she was born there. There is also a large Jesuit Cemetery there, which includes some men I knew. The miraculous healing that lead to her canonization is amazing.  Hit the link below for a short bio of Kateri.

  Saint Kateri Tekakwitha’s Story

The blood of martyrs is the seed of saints. Nine years after the Jesuits Isaac Jogues and Jean de Lelande were tomahawked by Iroquois warriors, a baby girl was born near the place of their martyrdom, Auriesville, New York.
