Health Update
Well, a very good report. First, no sign of lymphoma on the CAT scan. Second, white blood cell count up to 6.1, and the abs. neut’s at 3.8. Both very good numbers, well in the normal range. Last week they’d started to come up, with WBC at 3.8 and neut’s at 2.2. The CAT scan…

Health update
Tomorrow morning Brigid and I will be off to Sloan Kettering to see the lymphoma guru, Dr. Zelenetz. He’ll have the results of t he CAT scan from last Friday, and hopefully they’ll be no sign of lymphoma. I certainly can’t detect any. And I will also have another complete blood count, so we’ll see…

Health Update
Tomorrow I will be heading to Sloan Kettering into Manhattan for a 9AM appointment with the hematologist, Dr. Virginia Klimek. Then I am scheduled for my six month CAT scan, in anticipation of my appointment next week with the lymphoma guru, Dr. Zelenetz. I think there’s an excellent chance that Dr. Klimek will want to…

NY Times feature article on “chemotherapy fog” – the effects of chemotherapy on cognitive function
The Times had a fairly long feature today on the link between chemotherapy and cognitive problems like memory loss and the ability to concentrate. Health – blood counts
The numbers came in almost identical to last week’s counts. WBC is 2.2 (2.0 last week) and the key component number, the absolute neut’s. is 0.8 (last week 0.9). So no neulasta shot this week, and I see the hematologist next Friday.

Health update

Health update
Had my CBC today, and the pattern remains the same. My overall white count is 2.0 (down from 2.5), and the key abs. neut. # is 0.9 (down from a low normal of 1.8). So really no change in my general trend – I get a shot of neulasta (last one 23 days ago) and…

Leukemia and Lymphoma Cure-A-Thon running on Rush Limbaugh radio show
Turned on the radio on the way back to the office and Rush is doing his 17th annual "Cure-a-Thon" to fight leukemia and lymphoma. He just talked about adult stem cell transplants. I emailed his website with a note that I’d love to talk to him about my transplant. I presume it’s highly unlikely they’ll…

Last night’s trip to Sloan Kettering
I left a note here last night that I was off to Sloan Kettering Urgent Care, since my temperature was above 100.5 (actually reached 101.9) and I had some bad chills. Despite my call to the hematologist on duty last night (Dr. Apollo) who told me to go to Urgent Care, they didn’t know I…
