Farandaville doings; backyard and temporary resident

So… here are two pictures taken at 4:14 Sunday when I walked into our backyard. The light was pretty good – the pictures from my samsung phone don’t do it justice. And then below, the temporary resident who’d moved in last Friday.

I believe this is called a jumping cricket. Mostly he (she?) was hanging around in one of our kitchen sinks. We didn’t disturb her (him?). She  went out of the sink once or twice but always came back. Not sure what he was living on…

Yesterday evening we finally decided to get her out – easy to capture in the glass and then free into the front garden.

Oddly enough, we’d grown attached to the creature – but all good things must end.

  1. I am not a fan of crickets and we had one of these in the garage last year that constantly jumped at me whenever I took our pups out for a walk. Drove my little Lacey–a terrier mix—absolutely insane. He/she finally hopped out when the door was open one day—to be replaced that evening by a tree frog who set up shop behind a twelve pack of 7-up!
