We are very fond of rum – it’s our Jamaica connection – and we continue to experiment with different bitters variations and other additives for our old fashioneds. But … always use Demerara syrup as per the video. Our recent recipe below.
We have different ingredient proportions from the video – with half an ounce of demerara and “only” 1.5 oz. of rum hers may be too sweet. Will try it and report back.
Farandaville recent proportions –
2 oz. rum
1/3 oz. demerara. We think this is much superior to the usual sugar cube used
2 dashes Angostura bitters or 2 dashes orange bitters. Many bitters variations are possible. Angostura is the traditional one.
You can mix as above and pour on ice in an old fashioned glass – or just make it in the glass. It is done both ways in bars.
