I posted the Monte Carlo last week and the Kentucky Colonel simply substitutes bourbon for rye whiskey. While Zach here says the drink is a riff on the Monte Carlo it’s liel the other way around with the Colonel predating the Monte Carlo.
Farandaville recipe.
Almost identical to the guy above.
2 oz. bourbon – recommended with 90-100 proof (Woodford Reserve is great)
1/2 oz. Benedictine
1-2 dashed angostura bitters
1/2 teaspoon of lemon – but any citrus works
Stir in a mixing glass and pour over ice in an old fashioned glass. Add a cherry.
It’s wonderful – experiment with the amount of benedictine – 3/4 oz may also be nice.
