This is a semi-significant birthday (actually all birthdays are significant…). So I decided to test my VO2 max, which is a measure of cardiovascular fitness – “the maximum rate of oxygen your body can absorb, transport , and utilize during intense physical activity. It stands as the gold standard measurement for evaluating cardiovascular fitness and aerobic capacity.” (GeminiAI)
I did not take the lab test – running on a treadmill, wearing a mask with other monitoring, etc.
Instead I did the Rockport Fitness Test which is considered about 90% as accurate as the lab test, and was good enough for me. https://www.sport-fitness-advisor.com/rockport-test-calculator.html
On their table I came out with a score of 31.63, which they labeled as “fair”, just below the “good’ rating. Other tables I looked at labeled my score “above average” as they broke the scores into 7 categories instead of five. If doing the test yourself on a treadmill you need to raise the treadmill one (1) degree.
I’m glad I took the test; have thought about doing it for years. Will repeat on Labor Day weekend to see if I can get my score over 33.00.
I used to be tough. 1981 the Cayman Islands v. Toledo Celtics Rugby. We (Cayman) won. Now I specialize in cocktails.
