Fitness: The debate about high intensity interval training goes on

I've posted a few times about interval training (just type 'interval training" in the search box above), which holds that if done at high intensity levels, the results – especially relating to cardio – are as good or better than longer moderate exercise, but take much less time.

Here's more research on the subject, from the NY Times fitness section a few days ago.

High-intensity interval training, a type of workout that consists of very brief bouts of very strenuous exercise, has become enormously popular in recent years. A main reason is that although such workouts are draining, they can be both very effective and very short, often lasting only a few minutes.
