Today’s trip to the Doctor

Saw Dr. Kewalramani this morning. Got there for 10:30 appointment a couple of minutes early, and was actually done by about 11:20, which is some sort of record.

Everything continues to go well, with only my hemaglobin slightly blow normal range (it is 11.2 and normal is 12-14). I will start next week on Rituxin, once a week for four weeks. During our discussion Dr. K acknowledged that the chemotherapy probably did not destroy all the mantle cell cancer. The Rituxin is to hopefully push the recurrence further into the future. I will get another dose of Rituxin in four months.

My next appointment with Dr. K is in six weeks; in four weeks I can start returning to normal activities (eating out, normal diet, going to gym, etc.). but he said "Don’t go crazy." I can also now drink alcohol in small amounts. No definition given of "small amounts".

And I am off all meds, with the exception of the anti-viral medication Acyclovir. As the nurse said "You don’t want to get shingles, right?" YIKES!

  2. Glad to see things are going well with you. Obviously you have more time now to read, judging by the # of outside references on this blog.
